Life at Pampa by GV Ravikanth

Hi, I am Ravikanth GV done M.Tech in IIT Madras in Design stream. I have got placed in General Motors. Here I am going to share my hostel experience in IIT Madras.

Hostel life is one of the most enjoyable time in one's life and this is no exception as far as Pampa (IIT Madras) is concerned. This was my first experience in hostel and by no means it was mean. I was much tensed initially about the social life here but the get together we had on the very second day (Friendship day) made me feel better. It took a few weeks for me to acclimate and in the process made quite a good number of friends. We had a good population of maggus but rest of us kept the hostel alive and buzzing with activities and celebrations.

Most exiting thing is to watch cricket match in our TV room. Atmosphere used to be absolutely electrifying. Conversations, analysis and discussions were healthy. Debates on Sachin vs Dada, Nadal vs Federer, MANU vs Liverpool (list goes on) made matches more interesting.

After hectic first year we kept ourselves busy with sports activities and then the placement fever started to creep in. Hostel was filled with joy of those who got placed and anxiety of those who are yet to be. That was the most exciting winter I have ever seen. Soon after that project became a formality and parties the essence of life.

The jouney seemed real short although it lasted for 2 years. These 2 years gave us scope of improving our social bahavior, awareness to different cultures and memories to cherish. We discovered few characters those belong to different species (items). Bottom line is that you can always meet people who have opinions that are very different from your own, so you must be prepared to be tolerant and understanding other people's positions and views on life.

Without doubt, this certainly enriched us and broadened our perspective.
